If your region aims to play a role in restoring freshwater ecosystems and protecting migratory fish species, we bring good news: the deadline to apply to become a SWIM Associated Region has been extended until 31 August.
What are we looking for?
SWIM is inviting regional authorities, individuals, and consortia from countries outside the SWIM consortium to join its community and contribute to actions towards freshwater ecosystem restoration, improved habitat connectivity, and the protection of migratory fish species.
Selected Associated Regions will have the opportunity to contribute through a range of activities aligned with the project’s objectives, including desk research, fieldwork, technical meetings, workshops, local actions, and other relevant initiatives that support the restoration and management of freshwater ecosystems. Through this call, SWIM aims to engage at least six Associated Regions across the four Mission basins of the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters”.
What are the benefits?
Becoming a SWIM Associated Region offers both technical and financial benefits. Selected applicants may receive up to €60,000 in financial support, as well as tailored technical assistance from SWIM partners. They will also gain access to project knowledge, tools, and methodologies, while connecting with a European network of experts, stakeholders, and organisations working in the field of ecosystem restoration.
By joining SWIM, Associated Regions will become part of a wider European community, having the opportunity to strengthen their capacity for freshwater ecosystem restoration and management and develop solutions that respond to their own local challenges.
