Fish Migration & River Continuity
Isaccea, Romania
Preliminary investigations and telemetry tracking have confirmed the presence of sturgeon and shad in the Isaccea area, though detailed habitat information remains scarce. This data is crucial for enhancing the protection of these sites, considering local human activities like fishing and agriculture. SWIM project will monitor migratory fish populations, including sturgeons and Pontic shad, to assess their protection status.
The goal is to identify key feeding and resting habitats, understand the effectiveness of conservation measures, and implement adaptive management to support the recovery of these species and their habitats.
